OLI Chinese Online: Bridging Chinese Pedagogy, Research and Technology

This TEL demo will showcase the Chinese Online curriculum at CMU, which is being developed on the OLI platform to support an innovative and interdisciplinary collaboration of language learning, teaching and research. At the showcase we will walk through the key content of the OLI Chinese Online curriculum including the main content of video, text, audio prompts, key expressions and structures, and cultural learning with various interactive and innovative exercises and modules. The showcase will also demonstrate how students and instructors use the OLI Chinese online curriculum, how data on student interactions with the course is automatically collected and may be used to support interdisciplinary research and improve teaching, and the embedded online assessment test bank. Finally the opportunities, issues, and challenges associated with developing Chinese Online as an open educational resource on the OLI platform will also be addressed.
